The appointment of judges to the High Courts was initially influenced by the Chief Justice, the collegium was later established based on three Supreme Court judgments. Even after the collegium, which consisted of the Chief Justice and the two most senior judges, came into effect, there was still a lack of diversity in the appointment of judges.

The attempt of this small booklet is to combine two essays, one on the caste bias of the judges and the second as to how much such feelings do affect in interpreting the provisions meant for affirmative action in the form of reservation thereby rendering social justice. It is for the readers to come to a conclusion on their own on the basis of the sound arguments and instances pointed out in those two essays.
