All the World’s a Stage: On the Legacy of Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud

GAUTAM BHATIA graduated from the National Law School of India University and holds a BCL and MPhil from the University of Oxford, as well as an LLM from Yale Law School.

He has authored several books on law, including Offend, Shock, or Disturb: Freedom of Speech Under the Indian Constitution and The Transformative Constitution: A Radical Biography in Nine Acts. Additionally, he is a science fiction writer, known for The Wall and The Sentence.

As a lawyer, he has been part of legal teams involved in significant constitutional cases, such as the challenges to criminal defamation, the nine-judge bench case on the right to privacy, the Section 377 case, and the Aadhaar challenge. His work has been cited three times by the Indian Supreme Court and once by the Kerala High Court. He is the founder and author of the blog Indian Constitutional Law and Philosophy.
